March 30. Fire 🜂: Passion and Drive
What you are vs. Who you are.
My friend has always had many interests, but she struggles to lean in to any of them for more than a season or two in any particular way. Now that she is a mature woman, she actually knows a lot about a lot of things, having experienced so many things in an attempt to find her true passion or purpose. She is an intelligent and interesting woman, but I fear much of society has held an expectation she failed to meet – to accomplish a singular goal, to achieve expertise and reputable standing in that one area, and to know exactly what she is.

When we decide to try something we feel called to do, it might help if we remove the trappings of how it is supposed to look. We tend to expect permanence and long-term motivation to establish stable earnings or service to others. This linear mindset can be limiting and unnecessary.
Perhaps it is time to let go of this narrow conditioning. We can see our own path differently. Every path has lessons in it. Every path brings us something of value. Every path can sustain us for the stretch of time that we need.
Sometimes, we just need to be proud of the many things we did do and will do as we move forward with courage. Let’s consider who we are if we are not following a social script. Is that not of equal importance?
