Whistle While You Work

One morning, I was driving to work and I felt burdened. I did not feel like working that day. I was nervous about what would happen with a specific person, and felt heavy with the tasks before me. I also disliked my peers’ constant criticism of our boss and the complaining about our jobs which were launched every day in our break room. I could feel my body tense and the dark, rainy roads felt gloomy.Ā

Then I came to a stoplight and waited for the green. Another car was next to me, and I slightly glanced over to see the driver. A distinguished, older man was alone in his car, and he must have been listening to the radio. He was laughing so hard that his eyes were closed and he had to gasp for breath as he kept laughing. He was entirely filled with joy!Ā

It made me smile a bit. I wanted to go to work with him.Ā

Inspired Action

Just for today, bring the fun with you. Take a few moments to imagine what you need for comfort. Is it a cup of tea? Is it a single song? Is it smiling and saying hello to others?Ā  Now, imagine yourself having a lovely day. Imagine smiling and laughing with others. Imagine showing appreciation and warmth. Imagine being happy. What does it look like? How does it feel? Now get out there and bring it!
