Being Numb is Optional.

If we want to live our lives without pain, we must agree to living halfway. I have sought many forms of numbness in an effort to feel less. Chemicals, shopping, sugar, romance, gossip, sarcasm, and workaholism. Intellectualism too. These ventures muted the voices of sorrow, fear, and anger.  In the end, they only compounded the brewing storms within me. Likewise, when we gush with constant emotion, we are not finding the balance that a mature person can regulate.

Inspired Action

We are not meant to be robots. We are meant to experience all emotions, to honor them, and to let them flow through us.

Begin with a single step: Write it down. Tell it to someone. Create something that conveys an uncomfortable emotion. Choose a way to express one emotional truth.

Some people are very uncomfortable with the emotions of others, not to mention their own. Let this not be you. Let’s master the art of feelings and the glory of being fully alive! What are you feeling today? What are you doing to face it?
